Sariska
wildlife Sanctuary full of Indian Wild Life treasures is a core attraction
of Alwar city in Rajasthan situated in the northwestern part of India. Part
of Aravali Mountain Range are dry deciduous forest. It is extended over an
area of 429 sq.km, has a terrain of parched demeaning slopes of the
vallehills and low, confined ys with thick towering bamboo trees. Besides
Ranthambore National Park, Sarika Tiger Reserves are another home to
majestic tigers of India. Constitute in 1955, Sariska was brought under
Project Tiger in 1979 and later on converted into a national park in 1982,
is most eminent wildlife reserves in India. Divine Past
Back to ancient times the history reveals that after Shah Jahan, Aurangzeb imprisoned his brother Dara Shikoh here, who was a legitimate successor to the Mughal thrown. The Maharajas of Alwar built this territory a royal shooting reserve and leisure recourse for their exclusive use. Amidst the wild are marvelous ruins of barbaric age, a 17th century fort and 11th century temples that leaves the visitant wonder-stuck.

Best known for its great Tiger Reserves, Sariska is the home to other carnivores, Chitel for Leopard, Hyena, Jackal, Wild Boar, Sambar, Nilgai, Barasinga (antelope), Jungle Cat, Wild Dog, Langur. Besides these mammals, there is a treasure of avian world with exotic and diverse water birds, it includes Crested Serpent Eagle, Great Indian Horned Owl, Peafowl, Grey partridge, Golden back Wood Pecker and lot more.

Within Sariska tiger sanctuary, the remains of Neelkanth shiv temples of 6th -13th century AD, is an astounding perception for the visitors.

The Grand Sariska Palace :The palace constructed by the Maharajah of Alwar as a venery lodge in 1892 is now transformed into a hotel. Sariska Palace is situated in the premises of Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary and is 38km. from Alwar Railway Station.
» The Kankwari Fort :
An exquisite representation of Mughal architecture of 10th century, located inside the premises of Sariska national park, is Kankwari Fort, where once Dara Shikoh was captivated by his brother king Aurangzeb.
Other sights of tourist attractions are the remnants of the Kankwari Fort, the Budha Hanumab Temple near Pandupol, the Bharthari Temple near the park office, and the hot and cold springs of Taalvriksh with there medicinal value.
Best Time to Visit
The sanctuary can be visited through out the year but the best time is from November to March.
